Couldn't make it to the banquet, I was in Florida at Bradenton Dragway for an NHRA points meet, so you guys can hate me now. I don't have my Dart with me but wish I did! But I wanted to know how the banquet went any if any big changes were made?

Bracket Finals at MP Dragway in 2011! 8-)

Maybe maybe not I heard one of the three tracks that had committed has already backed out so before its said and done they will probably cancel the bracket finals atmt. Park . I think they need atleast 5 teams to make it any fun .. I hope it happens there but we will have to wait and see.

I hope that the finals don't get cancelled before the season even gets going. From the announcement, MP management was still working with IHRA to secure commitments from some other tracks but it sounded like the KY tracks had committed. I agree, I'd like to see 5-6 total tracks for a good event.

Oh well, that thing is scattered all over the garage anyway and I don't know when it'll be back together! Got to get Moser to narrow a rearend for me and solve some header mismatch problems. But I think there's about 6 weeks before MP will be running again.

i also heard that the ihra was trying to get in touch with mt. park and couldnt if they didnt get in touch with them this week then they were going to forget having bracket finals at clay city. but thats just here say dont know how much or if any of it is correct. guess we will wait and see

Theres 2 for sure Bluegrass and Mt Park and i spoke with Craig and hes still interested in Mt Park as well ... as for more tracks i`m not sure of yet...Maree is gonna call Frank today and try to find out whats going on as we want to get it done and over asap so everyone dont have to worry about it. Lets hope it works out and we do get 5-6 tracks would be a blast for sure. We hear one thing for 1 person and another from another person.

did they seperate the Super E.T and the Mod E.T points?

It's been difficult to find out much info but looking at the MP website I see that Super ET has gone back to what it was before which is $30 entry and payout of $350 for Summit series and I like this change. I would think that points would be separate now. Looks like they have brought Modified back full time too. Then there is the Grassroots series where Super is $25 to enter and pays $250/ Can someone else be more clear about these changes?

If I understood it correctly from the banquet:

Modified and Super ET points are separate in 2011 however any racer can enter points in two classes if they want to (Top & Mod, Mod & Super, etc). They just have to declare which class is their Summit Super Series points and of course, pay for both points entries.

The Grassroots point series is the Scott Richardson deal. I'm pretty sure if you enter Mt. Park's track points, you are automatically entered into the Grassroots points program but don't quote me on that. Not sure how many racers qualify from each track however there's a Regional final in August held at Muncie Dragway in Indiana that a team from Mt. Park would go to (like a bracket finals type format).

I personally didn't like the change to the Super ET payouts since the class was supported in 2010. At worst, I'd have left the payouts and entry for 2011 the same as 2010 but that's not my call to make. What I can say is that the lower payout in Super ET makes it tougher for me and Dad to make the 2 hour drive to Mt. Park and the trip be worth while making, especially if the gas prices don't settle down some. I guess I could run Modified however I can do that closer to home. The 1/4 mile footbrake is the class that draws me to Mt. Park.
