I would make the switch. The 8.5 is as tough as a 12bolt.. I ran in the 7.40's with a posi track and 4.10 gears. Then switched that winter.. I think randy's car has run in the 6's with a stock 10 bolt...

I used to run 6.80's on a 10 bolt 4.56 ratio, 2900 lb. car and never had any issues. Also had an S.10 with a 4.34 ci sml blk that ran 6.30's at 3100 lbs. no problem there either, but sure was waiting for that time bomb to go, stock rearend with 4.10's. 7.5!

7.5 10 bolts are just ticking time bombs. i'd put the 8.5 10 bolt in the car or there are alot of other options. 64-72 chevelle 67-69 camaro 62-67 Chevy II 70-81 Camaro I'd do the 8.5 if the car rocks really bad some of thoese rear-ends are a little wider and might cut the tire if it does, but nothing an anti-roll bar wont fix.
