William Ervin Jent, age 80, of Cold Springs Hollow Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
Born October 14, 1932, in Rowan County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Harvey and Myrtle Mageline Lewis Jent. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Charlie, Robert, Junior, Willard, and Roy Jent; four sisters, Gertrude Riddle, Olive Taylor, Anne Francis Anderson, and Elizabeth Cooper; and one grandson, Clifton Ray Jent.
Ervin is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Bessie Stafford Jent, whom he married June 6, 1953; four sons, Jackie Jent and wife Janie, Robert Jent and wife Pam, Clifford Jent, and Phillip Jent, all of Morehead, Kentucky; four daughters, Linda Reed and husband Bill of Clearfield, Kentucky, Kay Lewis Rosser and husband Mike of Flemingsburg, Kentucky, Brenda Stanley of Morehead, Kentucky, and Cathy Pennington of Sandy Hook, Kentucky; 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and a soon-to-be-born great-great granddaughter.
Other survivors include two brothers, Delmar Jent of Morehead, Kentucky, and Allie Vernon Jent of New Carlisle, Ohio; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives; and friends.
Ervin was a lifelong farmer and former mechanic for Lewis Garage and Stone Pontiac, both in Morehead. He enjoyed hunting and NASCAR racing and really loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2013, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Rev. Willie Sturgill officiating. Burial will follow in the Jent Cemetery on Cold Springs Hollow Road.
Pallbearers will be Robert Jent, Jodie Jent, Bill Reed, David Stafford, Wayne Jent, and Dewey Reed. Honorary pallbearers will be the grandchildren.
Visitation Friday, February 8, 2013, after 6 p.m.
Memorial Saturday, February 9, 2013, at 2 p.m.
