Great to be a part of the pack Moe. I already have a serious question about Clay City. I've heard, through the grapevine that Clay City may go to "Cross Talk" as I understand that IHRA may require it for their points races. Could you start a poll to get some imput for me to approach the track mgmt. Of course this only affects the delay box class but I'd like to see it happen. What does everyone else think? 8-)

It's the way of the future. Unfortunately, if you have an old delay box without a cross-over function, it will make life more difficult. But, such is life. At this point, enough other tracks have it that not using it may turn away customers. I have several friends that made the trip south to MPD this year for the first time. Many of them had no idea that cross-talk was NOT in use, until I warned them. I forgot to warn one friend and sure enough... The tree came down first round, he let go of the button, the green light came on and his car sat there on the starting line for another 3 seconds. It wasn't the track's fault but that is still the kind of thing that gets people upset after spending the gas money to drive 2, 3, 4 or more hours to race. That's just one perspective from an out-of-towner who likes to race at MPD on occasion.

i dont like it,its just another thing to help out the fast cars...i like the old times when you have to take out 10-12 thou for crossing over....racing is becoming some much os an adcantage for fast cars it aint even funny.
i like using cross-talk,it makes you a little better on the tree.

I love cross talk. I hope Mt. Park gets it. I could honestly care one way or the other but I wish every track would have the same thing. I do like cross talk.

I am unfamiliar with this and don't laugh too hard. Is this the setup where both top bulbs come on at the same time and then delays for the faster car after that? Does the blinder go all the way up the tree to the top bulb or still just cover the bottom 2 yellows?
The crosstalking I had always heard about and worked with was bad: the plug wires and MSD back to the delay box.

i dont care either....i`m one of the faster cars and its to my advantage,if you dont cross over alot it will not effect you,but it just gives the faster car another thing to help them....i went to London and ran it,it wasnt my first time using it....and its just so much easier crossing with it,you dont have to change the box for crossing or going off your own light.

It doesn't matter either way to me but the Chrondek system in place works well (except for the occasional spider or lightning bolt) so is it worth adding another task to the computer. I'm sure it's not a problem, just a upgrade that comes on a floppy, but often less is more. For instance some racers have suggested that clay city needs to score further past the 0. but I don't believe it would help. The best infrareds available are rated for .000, the 10,000ths is mostly a crap shoot. This aint no lab at MIT. If cross-talk is the wave then great, for a small investment car counts might even go up. I've talked to a few racers that were really for it but of them the slowest runs low 5's. This could hurt the slower box racer even more than he/she already is by lane choice rules and first chance at red. IHRA has no interest in mandating cross-talk for their divisional races. It would only effect T/S & T/D and some of the northern tracks in div.3 refuse to use it even though it's in their Brockmeyer systems. It is a clash of regions, the south uses it more than the north. Even if clay city get's it for the divisional that don't mean it has to be used during regular points stuff. It's just another one of the many things that need discussion and voting at the banquet but it also helps to know how the poll on the box section of Moe's site shakes out. These days technology's so advanced that I worry changes may be unavoidable and worst of all it's because cheating gets easier and cheaper. I only hope we don't need crazy stuff like GPS signal scramblers down track and Cat Scans at tech as part of this wave of the future.

shag, cross talk is nice for the faster cars, but its not a big deal really,i have race with and with out it and i dont really see no big deal, but either way it really dont matter....the 1 advantage i think it helps is the older racers like my dad,he went to London with me last fall and it really helped him,he had raced on it at Bowling Green....so if MP gets it i dont think no one will not like it at all.

I am rarely the faster car, but when I am, the crosstalk helps out cause I focus on the same bulb I usually do. I like it.
