Hello everyone.
Well one would hope that your first post would be a joyous one,but sometimes it's not.
But as you all have read my DAD ,Louis McLaughlin ,passed away Sat. the 8th of March due to complications of bladder cancer surgery.
He had been diagnosed with the cancer in Dec.2007,and had undergone two surgeries prior to this last one.
My DAD had told me that God had told him his soul was ready to go to heaven, and that really gives me a lot of comfort knowing that.
My DAD really enjoyed,if not loved the sport of drag racing. He started racing of all places on the street. Then in the early 60's started racing at Riverside Drag strip in Proctorville,OH.,and Ravenrock in West Portsmouth,OH. .
I can remember coming down to MT.Park back in 1984.My DAD had a white 1964 Malibu wagon. He raced Randall Campbell for the finals one night, and won 8-).
A couple years later,in 1986,my DAD and I started racing at Rivercities in Ashland. That's when he started racing his ole' silver 1978 Malibu wagon that he last raced in 2007.
In 1986 somebody whom I got to be close friends with,a one Randy Centers, brought me a picture of my DAD's 64' wagon, the night he beat Randall Campbell. And another friendship was born.
My DAD has always enjoyed the racers from Mt.Park and Bluegrass and all the other tracks he had ran at.
It's hard for me to imagine him not taking the ole' wagon down the track anymore.I've heard so many wonderful and funny stories about it that I'll never forget them or the people who told me.
I'd really like to thank the Barkers who have showed so much friendship and compassion for my DAD and the family since I told him he was sick.
We all thought he'd be back for another season ,but it's a shame it won't be so.
So THANK YOU,from the bottom of my heart for anyone who made my DAD a friend of theirs or you a friend of his.
I'm not sure if the ole' wagon will be out this year or not.But only time will tell.
I appreciate all the kind words said by you fellows on this chat site.
And a big thank-you to Chris and Moe for updating everyone on this site about my DAD,God Bless you guys !
