I could never understand why a buy back is not counted as another entry....it's all about the money that comes in from the car count as to what the purse is...so someone explain that to me..... Jim from running a track, the track has to make money somwere to pay there weekly bills, what we did at BRP was the buyback money paid all our employees, then spectators paid some of the other bills, it cost around $2500-$3000 to run a weekly program or atleast that was close to what it cost BRP. Class entry has to pay the purse not buybacks and all, track puts everything into purse they dont stay open very long at all. Atleast that`s the way it was at BRP. Sure its pretty close the same everywere else. It`s not cheap for them to open the gates up every weekend for us to go and race at. Good thing if racers just show up and go race with that pay structure it pay awesome payouts, if not then track dont take a beaten in the bank account. It stinks if cars are not there but i understand there move as well, i know i couldnt run my business if i was gonna lose money.

I saw on here, posted by a Clay City racer, that they would be paying alot of $800 purses... Come on guys! Clay City averaged nearly 50 Top ET cars last year. How many did London average? Not nearly the 45 min. that's posted! I see no problem protecting themselves in case the weather sucks. And that would be the only reason you'd see under $1450-Win. Crunch the numbers. Don't abandon MP cause they want to stay in business. Fact is they will still be paying more than anyone else around, THERE IS NO DOUBT.

I agree with Jeremy. Clay city will pay a lot of 800 to win races. This is because no one wants to take a chance of winning 800 dollars. I for sure ain't gonna run to clay city every weekend. Travis I have seen cc have less than 30 Alot during the beginning of the season. Clay city needs to guarantee at least 1200 to win. Also I race for fun and to be with my mom and dad. That's why me and dad race. It's a way for us to hang out and have fun. But I can't run for a hot dog to win and a coffee to runner up. I have to win money. I don't have Scotty spotting my bill to race. I go to college and my winnings is how I make it to the races. If I had Scotty spotting my bill I could race for anything. Nothing again anyone but I can't afford to race for nothing. Also yeah $800 is not a good payout for around here. Yeah it beats owingsville but London and lake Cumberland pays more. That's where you will find me at mostly this year! WRONG!!! MP never had 30 or less cars!!!! but what if it rains everywhere? Do you want to see them take a bath???

My dad ran a racetrack for 3 years.. It costs alot more than most people will ever know.. My dad was the only one in on the track so what little money he made he didnt have to split it 4-5 ways (which is most cses)... He usually broke even on entries and only made money on the concessions.. He owned a grocery store and got all of his supplies at his prices.. But even at that he never made a killing like people think.. You dont make enough off of race fuel to even sell it but you have to.. Most people dont understand you have to pay the insurance wether it rains or you get to race (or the company my dad went thru did it that way).. you did get a credit for a weekend though if it was canceled.. and the insurance is NOT cheap.. People will keep complaining until there is NO WHERE to race at.. THey are not getting rich by any means and unlike us they dont show up on saturday at noon and thats it.. its pretty much a full time job between mowing grass, doing maintenance, picking up trash etc.. (as butcher will tell anyone)... I know I worked with my dad pretty much every day.. Yes clay city probably does make some money on a few of there bigger races that draw alot of spectators but they are not making a killling.. Just be glad right now they are providing us with a place to PLAY.. My dad will tell you right now that the amount of time versus the money made isnt worth all the work... He only ran it so me, my brother and his fellow racers had a place to play cause no one else wanted that track..

I personally dont think it is any of our business what a track makes! If I wasnt making money at my business I wouldnt do it! I like the idea of what the city did on payouts all I can say is bring your cars and race! Fleming is right atleast we have a playpen to go to. Clay City has been there for many years for a reason....... Keep up the good work guys!!

I've been thinking a little bit about the structured payout. I would agree that clay city averaged 50 cars a week. That means they would pay on average $1450 to win. That's not a bad pay day. One positive this structured payout has over other structured purses is you know at the beginning of round 1 what the payout will be. There's no waiting to the end of the night to find out the purse was slashed in half. I still prefer guaranteed payouts, but this structure is not horrible. That being said, when the weather is bad, racers will have less of an incentive to pull their cars out. Why pull your cars out with 60% chance of rain when most racers are going to sit at home or when it's 99 degrees and some racers stay in the AC? That's the race days when the car count will suffer greatly and I think their will be less than 30. IMO. Whereas, if you guaranteed a lesser amount then $2000, it might lure more racers out in less than ideal weather conditions. Just my opinion for what it's worth.

if they get 52 cars and dont pay $2000 they will bitch because there only 4 cars shy to pay full payout and not go by the structure payout form. they did with bluegrass at bracket finals i heard and they were 6 cars shy. to funny these racers are. they would bankrupt a racetrack if they listen to some of these guys. i like the gauaranteed payouts also but i understand as long as they pay $1000-$1200 im ok with that. i would be ok with 800 if there was only 25 cars. as long as they didnt have 2 rounds of buybacks.
